Campanology Glossary

Campanology is the study of bells – how bells are made, how bells are tuned, how bells are rung, and how bells are woven into the tapestry of society and culture. Bells are some of the world’s oldest musical instruments and, as such, have developed a nomenclature all their own. To help budding campanologists and bell enthusiasts wade through 3,000 years of bell history and tradition, we’ve compiled a globe-spanning glossary of words and phrases that help us describe that most beloved bronze beauty: the bell.
